County’s New Drug Dog Visits Courthouse

Ares, the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office’s new drug dog, was brought in by his handler, deputy Charles Ochs, to meet the County Commission last Thursday.

Ares, a German Shepherd, has been taught commands in Dutch. Ochs said Ares lives with him and his family and is great with his children. Ares visited with the commissioners and personnel of the county clerk’s office.

The previous drug dog was involved in an icy-road collision and was injured, He had to be retired. Ochs said the dogs are trained in Pennsylvania to sniff out narcotics.
