SGHS Holding Camps, Open Gyms

BY MICHAEL BOYD JR.

MIDDLE SCHOOL & GRADE SCHOOL
(BOYS AND GIRLS)

Ste. Genevieve High School head varsity boys basketball coach Robert Coleman is holding open gym every Monday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for Ste. Genevieve R-II students — boys and girls — in grades 5-12 only.

The open gyms, also known as shoot-arounds, are free and will be held at the SGHS gymnasium until the close of the current school year near the end of May.
School and gymnasium rules apply.

•SUMMER CAMPS: Coach Coleman also announced his summer basketball camps for Ste. Genevieve R-II students — boys and girls — in grades 3-8.

The two-week camp is $30 per student and will run from June 9-13 and July 7-11 at the new middle school gymnasium.

Campers will learn the basic fundamentals of basketball for their age group through fun games and activities. Camp will be instructed by Coleman and his staff and players.

Each player also will receive a camp T-shirt.

Times each day for middle school students in grades 6-8 are 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Times each day for elementary students in grades 3-5 are 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Elementary students in summer Dragons Den may walk over to the new middle school gym afterwards to attend camp, but teachers need a note from their parents in order to do so.

Students should have had signup flyers sent home with them, but parents may request another form.

For more information or questions on the open gyms and camps, contact Coleman at (573) 883-4500, ext. 3, and ask the teachers’ aide for his voicemail.
