Homer Patterson

Homer Lowell Patterson of Barnhart died on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at his home. He was 95 years old.

He was born July 8, 1924, in Reynolds County, Missouri, a son of the late Alice (Burkkart) and Lucian Patterson.

He is survived by his wife Trevia (Owens) Patterson; five daughters, Connie Ann Fox and her husband Robert of Cape Girardeau, Patricia “Cricket” Patterson of Herculaneum, Sally Ann Gilman of Kansas City, Missouri, Debora Lynn “Debbie” Elder and her husband Mike of South Carolina, Donna Sue Movesian and her husband Brian of Barnhart; one son, Dennis Patterson and his wife Kate of Imperial; one sister, Doris Jean Arl of Arnold; one brother, Joe Patterson and his wife Betty of Lincoln, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Steve Fox, Jim Fox and his wife Rose, Beth Skinner and her husband Jon, Matt Elder and his wife Anja, Greg Patterson and his wife Jen, Jill Newman and her husband Nate, Laura Melvin and her husband Steve, Chris Gilman, Madeline Movesian-Housley and her husband Chuck, Allie Movesian; and 13 great-grandchildren, Adrian, Amelia, Lexie, Reece, Luke, Kara, Sarah, Connor, Cyrus, Carrie, Charlotte, Arlow, and Reid.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ophia Lawrence and her husband Smokie; one brother, Leroy Patterson and his wife Shirley; one brother-in-law, James Arl; and one granddaughter, Lana Fox.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a retired machinist from American Pulveriser Company in St. Louis. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Arnold.

Funeral services were Monday, July 29, at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Graveside service and interment with full military honors was Tuesday, July 30, at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Gravelton, Missouri. Vinyard Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
