Sept. 6 Is Deadline For Comment To NPS

Interested parties only have until September 6 to comment on a proposal for National Park Service involvement in historic Ste. Genevieve.

NPS is conducting a study of whether or not such involvement is warranted, and if so, what the nature of that in-

volvement might be. Options range from the creation of a park service unit here, to NPS serving in an advisory role.

“This could be an important asset to our community,” City Administrator Mike Fallert said. “The presence of an NPS unit here could be especially beneficial, both in terms of historic preservation and education efforts, and the local economy.

Those who wish to comment on the matter may do so via a direct link to the comment form on the NPS website at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/commentForm.cfm?parkID=155&projectID=31496&documentId=35490.

In addition, a PDF version of the study group’s most recent newsletter, with more information about the study process and a brief overview of Ste. Genevieve’s history and architectural significance, is posted at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/projectHome.

Comment forms also are available at the Herald office (330 Market).
