Rural Heritage Day Rainout

Members of the Lions Club gathered under a tent near the Creole House on St. Mary’s Road on Saturday morning shortly after the decision was made to cancel the club’s Rural Heritage Day celebration.

A rainy weekend forced the cancellation of last Saturday's Rural Heritage Day celebration, A Lions Club event that has become one of Ste. Genevieve’s largest signature celebrations. The cancellation was the first in the 11-year history of the event.

“Not much you can do about the weather,” event organizer Jack Donze said.

The Foundation for Restoration of Ste. Genevieve’s Deja Vu Spirit Reunion on Saturday night in Memorial Cemetery also was cancelled.
