With Ste. Genevieve’s downtown historic district welcoming hundreds of visitors on the first weekend of December for the annual Holiday Christmas Festival, the Downtown Ste. Genevieve organization and the Ste. Genevieve Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to sponsor their first holiday decorating contest for merchants, downtown residents and historic buildings.
The contest will have three categories: residences in the historic district, businesses/not for profit, and historic buildings. Awards to the top three in each division will be presented on Thursday, December 5, two days before the Holiday Christmas Festival kicks off.
Entry forms are due to the Welcome Center by 5 p.m, on Monday, December 2.
Judging will take place on the evening of Wednesday, December 4, so those using lights in their displays are asked to have them turned on that evening.
Entries in the historic building category may use lights but the greenery and wreaths used in that division must be natural rather than artificial. Other categories may use artificial greenery and wreaths.
Entries will be judged for creativity, uniqueness, eye appeal. theme and use of color.
